Sharing Success at the Schenectady City School District  21st CCLC Program!

The students in the 21st Century Afterschool Program, at William C. Keane Elementary School, have been working for the past six months, on writing and publishing their own children’s books. The students chose wordless picture books using the Write Brain Books program. Our students, in groups of one to six children, created and wrote stories to match their book’s illustrations.  Students utilized the book builder on the Write Brain website to enter their books which was published into either a colored hard or soft copy of each group’s work.  Each published book contains dedications, author pictures and the children’s own unique story on the illustrations from the Write Brain Books.  We created 12 different storybooks amongst 43 students in grades 2-5.  Each student, and their classroom teacher, received a copy of their book at our Book Release celebration on May 21st.

All 12 book titles will also be given to our Keane’s School library.  We are very proud of our students and their wonderful accomplishment in becoming authors of their own children’s book!
